The Isle of Wight consists of a total of 14 beaches and all of them are so clean and tidy that 11 out of the 14 beaches have been rated to provide the best quality of water for bathing. Therefore, if you are keen to visit clean and tidy beaches that are safe for you and your family, then the beaches on the Isle of Wight are the most suitable for you.

Compton Bay Beach, Isle of Wight

Out of the 14 beaches of Isle of Wight, one of the best ones is the Compton Bay which is a beautiful beach that stretches straight for two miles. It is a long stretch of golden and dark sands that shine beautifully under the sea. The beach is characterised by two types of cliffs. One is the multicoloured sandstone cliffs while the other is the white-coloured chalk cliffs at the freshwater. This beach is also known as doing it yourself beach because it requires you to bring all the required material yourself: food, drinks, refreshments, and even the surfing board. All these activities are allowed at the beach but only if you bring your things with you.

However, there are some of the areas that are sheltered by the large cliffs, and that results in a mild temperature in those areas. It usually experiences a lot of sunshine throughout the year which is more than the average number of sunshine hours, however, some of the areas also experience snowfall like Freshwater, Totland, and Shalfleet but the snow is little and usually temporary that does not last very long and turns into rain faster.
