Diana, Princess of Wales, was probably one of the most famous and popular members of the British royal family. She was much-loved by the people, and there was widespread mourning after her death, as well as a lot of controversy surrounding it and the approach that the royal family took to it and to her.

Princess Diana was around 5 foot 10 inches (1.78 meters), meaning she was tall for a British woman. She was also tall among the females of the royal family, standing significantly taller than Queen Elizabeth II and at the same height as her husband, who is now King Charles (then Prince Charles).

Princess Diana’s height draws a lot of curiosity from people, both those who loved her and those who were unsure about her. In this article, we’re going to learn more about this, as well as her age and her weight.

How Tall Was Diana, Princess Of Wales?

How tall was Diana, Princess of Wales?

Princess Diana was 5 foot 10 inches, a fact which surprises many people. The average height of a British woman is 5 foot 3 inches (1.60 meters), which means that Princess Diana was a full 7 inches taller than the average woman.

The average American woman is only slightly taller than the average British woman, standing at 5 foot 4 inches (1.63 meters), so Princess Diana would also have been very tall in the US.

Her height made her stand out, and sadly meant that she was not able to pursue her career in dancing, as she grew “too tall” for the sport. It’s unfortunate, because she was a passionate dancer and would likely have made attempts to continue if not for her height. Of course, her position might have made it impossible for other reasons, but it’s sad that a physical attribute stood in her way.

Princess Diana was renowned for her elegance and beauty, although it was her character that really won her popularity among the British public, and led to widespread adoration for her. She was known to be a giving and philanthropic person, working to help children and the elderly, and fighting for the acceptance of AIDS victims.

She was also the subject of much sympathy, due to her unsuccessful and unhappy marriage to the former Prince Charles. Both parties engaged in affairs and there has been extensive speculation about why their marriage was so unsuccessful.

How Old Was Diana, Princess Of Wales?

Princess Diana was only 36 years old when she died in 1997, in a car crash in Paris. The driver is thought to have been fleeing from the paparazzi, and the funeral was one of the most watched events in the history of British television, reflecting her popularity.

Controversy surrounded the death of the young princess, and there was great public mourning in response to it. Many books, articles, and shows have been made about her life (and death), and she continues to live on in British memory. Many of her personal items were sold in the years following her death, being used to raise money for charities that she was associated with.

Diana had an interesting and difficult life. She first met Prince Charles in 1977, when she was just 16 years old. At the time, he was 29, and was dating her older sister. They remet 3 years later, in 1980, and Charles began to take an interest in her.

He invited her on a holiday, and then to the royal family’s Scottish residence, Balmoral Castle. In 1981, he proposed, although the engagement was not announced for over two weeks. She married Charles later that year, in the summer of 1981. The televised wedding was watched by around 750 million people.

She was initially favored by the royal family, and received tokens of affection from the Queen, including being lent the Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara. She became pregnant toward the end of 1981. However, it is thought that she was deeply unhappy, and she suffered from many mental problems, including postpartum depression after the baby was born.

The marriage began to struggle after around 5 years, with the 12 year age gap posing serious problems for the couple. It is thought that Diana began her first affair in 1986, and around this time, Charles also began seeing his former girlfriend, Camilla Parker Bowles. Their marriage continued until 1996, with great tension and failed attempts at reconciliation.

Both parties are believed to have been seeing other people for years by this point, and Diana suffered from paranoia, making her vulnerable to exploitation.

After the divorce, Diana continued as a member of the royal family, and fulfilled many of her duties. She also did a lot of charity work, and traveled extensively to many different countries. Her work for many different causes cemented her popularity, and many people remain extremely grateful for the contributions she made to raising awareness and destigmatizing diseases.

How Much Did Diana, Princess Of Wales, Weigh?

Princess Diana was always slim, but her weight was at times a problem. She lost a lot of weight before her wedding to the prince, and blamed his criticisms of her weight for the development of bulimia, saying that he called her “chubby.” There is also some speculation that she struggled with anorexia.

Some sources have linked Princess Diana’s eating disorders with the fact that she fainted several times while in public. It’s not clear whether lack of food was really the cause, but it does seem the princess was worried about her weight, and afraid of being judged for it.

This is sad, as Princess Diana was widely admired for being elegant, beautiful, and exceptionally charismatic. She is widely considered to have been the most attractive British princess, although this is subjective of course.

Conclusion

As you can see, Princess Diana was a very tall woman, which may have increased her self-consciousness about her height and appearance. She suffered from depression and other mental problems, and is thought to have been deeply unhappy in her marriage, despite her popularity with the British public.
