Red and yellow are both popular colors in many national flags, given their striking and vivid appearance and potential for rich symbolism.
Spain
Spain’s flag consists of three horizontal bands, with the top and bottom red bands being thinner than the center yellow one. Spain’s national emblem – an elaborate coat of arms that incorporates sovereign symbols such as crowns and a lion sigil – sits off center towards the flag’s hoist side.
The current Spanish flag officially became the national flag on May 15, 1785.
