Batman is probably one of the most famous superheroes out there, and a lot of people think he’s a particularly fascinating and unusual character for a whole range of reasons. However, his physique has undergone a lot of changes in recent years, and that might leave you wondering how tall he is, as well as how old he is and how much he weighs.

Batman’s height has varied a lot through the different imaginings of him, which is unsurprising when you remember that multiple actors and artists have explored the character. DC has officially listed Batman at 6 foot 2 inches (1.88 meters), but he has been portrayed by actors ranging from 5 foot 9 inches (1.75 meters) to 6 foot 4 inches (1.93 meters).

We’re going to find out more about Batman’s different heights, the actors who have played him, and how his appearance has changed in recent years.

Batman is officially 6 foot 2 inches tall, and this is how tall he is supposed to be when he is drawn in the comics. However, it’s difficult to make sure that actors fit the role exactly, which has resulted in Batman appearing at several different heights throughout the years, depending on who is portraying him.

One of the first Batman actors was Adam West, who played in the 1960s TV show and the first Batman live-action movie in 1996. He actually was 6 foot 2 inches himself, making him a particularly appropriate choice for this character.

He was followed up by Michael Keaton, who took the role in the 1989 movie Batman and the 1992 movie Batman Returns. Keaton was about 5 inches shorter than Batman is supposed to be, standing around 5 foot 9 inches (1.75 meters). He did very well in the role, but he wasn’t a tall Batman!

In 1995, Val Kilmer took over the character in Batman Forever, and he’s around 6 feet (1.83 meters) tall. He was followed up by George Clooney in 1997’s Batman ; Robin. Clooney is 5 foot 11 inches (1.80 meters).

After 2000, the Batman role went to Christian Bale for 3 movies (Batman Begins in 2005, The Dark Knight in 2008, and The Dark Knight Rises in 2012). Bale is around 6 feet tall, and represented a shift toward a darker, more serious character.

Next up on the long list of actors who have played Batman is Ben Affleck, in 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ben Affleck is the only actor who has taken the role and is taller than the character was supposed to be. He stands at an imposing 6 foot 4 inches (1.93 meters). He also portrayed Batman in Justice League and Suicide Squad (as a cameo).

The final person to play Batman so far is Robert Pattinson, who made his debut in the role in 2022. He is 6 foot 1 inch (1.85 meters), making him very close to the intended height of the character.

Is Batman Taller Than Superman?

Batman and Superman are often set against each other, but which of the two is taller? A lot of fans wonder, especially when it comes to debating which is the “better” superhero!

Superman is 6 foot 3 inches (1.91 cm) according to the official records, meaning that he has about an inch of height on Batman. This was a challenge in the Batman V Superman movie, since Ben Affleck was so tall, and Henry Cavill (Superman) is only 6 foot 1 inch (1.85 meters).

How Old Is Batman?

Bruce Wayne becomes Batman when he’s 26 years old, and Robin joins his team 3 years later, when Bruce Wayne is 29. A lot of people treat the character as “forever 29,” making it easier to deal with the fact that he never really ages. There are a lot of age-related inconsistencies between the different portrayals of him.

In Batman Begins, there’s a decorative birthday banner that says he’s 30, and in an interior monologue in Endgame, he mentions being 32 years old.

Some fans have figured out specific ages for the different portrayals, and suggest that he’s around 30 years old in the comics, but older than 30 in Nolan’s movies, Burton’s movies, and a few others. Other fans think he’s meant to be the same age throughout most of the franchise, and place him in his late 20s or early 30s.

In most cases, there’s no easy way to pinpoint Batman’s age in any given movie or comic, but he’s generally considered to be somewhere between 26 and 40.

According to the comic lore, Batman’s parents were killed when he was 8 years old. However, a lot of the math doesn’t add up if you try to figure out the different years and sequences of events that occur in the movies and comics.

How Much Does Batman Weigh?

The listed weight for Batman is around 210 lb (95 kg), but several fans have pointed out that this is problematic, given his height and his physique. The recommended weight range for a 6 foot 2 man is between 171 and 209 lb (78 and 95 kg), but given how built Batman is, he should be closer to 250 lb (113 kg).

The fans have had problems with DC’s assignment of numbers for their characters before, and have suggested that they don’t think carefully about them.

It is worth noting that in early versions of the character, Batman was not as buff as in today’s appearances, so perhaps the number is supposed to represent the early Batman. Even so, it seems likely that 250 lb would be a more accurate number for him.

Conclusion

Batman is supposed to be 6 foot 2 inches, which makes him about 6 inches taller than the average American man. He has been portrayed by many different actors, including Ben Affleck at 6 foot 4 inches, and Michael Keaton, who is only around 5 foot 9 inches. Both made the character their own and added to the fans’ love for the character of Batman.
