Moreover, another distinct feature of the country is that it is a central plateau which also extends its border to the United States. From the North to the south of the country, there are two mountain ranges.

One of them is the Sierra Madre Oriental while the other is the Sierra Madre Occidental. These two mountain ranges are extensions of the Rocky Mountains that are a part of North America. The east and west side of the country is crossed by a volcanic belt which is the Trans Mexican Volcanic belt and is known as the Sierra Nevada. Most of the population of the country resides in high altitudes as the central and the northern territories of Mexico are located there. Climate of Mexico

Just like the topography of the country, the climate of Mexico is also very varied. The country is divided into tropical as well as temperate zones because of the tropic of Cancer. Primarily, the climate of Mexico is tropical which has a rainy season as well as a dry season. There is little fluctuation in the temperatures from season to season. The dry season is from November to May while the rainy season is from June to October. The temperature of the country usually ranges between 50 degrees Fahrenheit to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mexico Temperature

During the rainy season, the amount of rainfall is the greatest and most of the regions in the country receive approximately 40 inches of rain each year. Since the country is very vast, there are different types of climate in all parts of the country, for instance, the west coast in the country generally has arid climate while the central northern highlands that consists of the mountain ranges and also the southern plateaus are quite rainy.

Other than this, the tropical southern areas are even rainier. The summer season in Mexico is the rainiest of all the other seasons. Altitude plays a major role in Mexico as the temperature continues to increase as one moves from north to south, therefore, the cities that are located at high altitudes which also includes the capital of the country are generally cooler than other cities of Mexico.

Mexico is a pleasant country to visit throughout the year as, despite dry and sunny days, the temperature at night is still calm and cool which makes it suitable for a perfect evening spent with family and friends especially in Mexico City which is the capital.

Mexico Flag Facts

Mexico FlagImportance of Flags to a country

The flag of a country is of utmost significance in history as well as in the present situation. This is because the flag of a country represents that particular country and the traditions and customs that the country follows. It can be considered as a symbolic representation of the country’s values and traditions. The colours and the symbols that are drawn on the flag are drawn purposefully because they have a certain context behind them. A country is recognised by the help of the flag that it acquires.

Between the names of two countries, the feature that will differentiate between those two countries will be the flag of that particular country. Other than this, a flag of a particular country is considered as a source of uniting the people of that place. This is because all the people who belong to that country are recognised by the name of the country and the flag that the country has, therefore, it portrays a sense of nationalism, patriotism, and unity in the people of that country who unanimously accept that flag and try to own it as their identification and recognition.

Mexico Flag Colours

The appearance of the flag of Mexico is very unique. It consists of three horizontal stripes. The colours of the strips from left to right are green, white and red. Although the meaning of the colours that have been included in the flag may change over time as they may mean something else in the past but mean something else in the future, these colours were adopted by Mexico when they fought the war of Independence and gained their independence from Spain. In the white stripe, which is the middle one among the other three strips, there is a symbol of an eagle that is made.

This central emblem is known as the Mexican coat of arms which is the symbol of an eagle who is sitting on a cactus. The three colours that have been used in the flag are the colours of the Mexican army. The features of the flag of Mexico have changed increasingly over time, for instance, the design of the coat of arms that is in the middle of the flag, along with the size of the coat of arms and also, the width of the strips have been modified over time. However, the national flag of Mexico was adopted in 1894.

Mexico Flag Symbol Meaning

The flag of Mexico is full of national freedom and symbolism. The different coloured stripes that have been included in the flag symbolise different things, for instance, the first strip which is of green colour symbolises the independence movement. Such values in the flag like freedom and independence instigate nationalism and patriotism in the people of the country.

The white stripe which is in the centre represents the purity of the Catholic faith. While the red stripe in the flag symbolises the blood that has been spilled by the heroes of the country. This is a tribute to the warriors and the national heroes of the country who have sacrificed their lives fighting for the protection and security of their own country.

While the coat of arms that is in the centre of the flag is of utmost significance as it resembles the traditions and heritage of the country. It symbolises the Aztec heritage. The context behind this was that the Aztecs had been advised by God that to identify the place where they were supposed to establish their city, they must identify an eagle who is sitting on a prickly tree like a cactus and devouring a serpent. According to the legends of the country, the Aztecs spotted the eagle at a lake which is currently located in Mexico City. The ratio and proportion of this flag is 4 to 7 (4: 7).

Mexican Flag vs Italian Flag

The flag of Mexico is very similar to the flag of Italy. The flag of Italy has the same structure as the Mexican flag as it also uses the same three horizontal stripes as Mexico and the strips are also of the same colour as the flag of Mexico. The only difference between the flags is that the coat of arms that exists in the flag of Mexico is not present in the Italian flag and that is the only difference between the flags. Also, another difference is of the colours. Although both the Italian flag and the Mexican flag use the same green, white and red colours the colours of the Mexican flag are slightly darker than the flag of Italy, especially the green colour. Other than this, there is a difference between the ratios of both flags as well. The ratio of the Mexican flag is 4: 7 but the ratio of the Italian flag is 2 : 3.

Mexican Flag Variations

Other than the similarities that exist between the flag of Mexico and the flags of other countries, there are two variants of the national flag of Mexico. These variants are used by the state and the federal governments. The difference that is between the national flag of the country and the variants of the national flag is the design of the coat of arms.

The first variant which is used by the president of the country and also by some of the federal bodies, the coat of arms on the flag is coloured gold completely. The strips remain the same coloured as green, white and red and the stone, lake and the talons of the eagle are painted in silver. On the other hand, the second variant of the flag has the coat of arms also painted gold but, in this variant, there is no other colour like silver except the three stripes. This variant is primarily used by the State government and also some of the federal bodies who are unable to use the first variant or the national flag.
