Where is El Paso Texas located on the US map?

El Paso, a city in Texas, is situated in the far eastern part of the US, joining the three states- Chihuahua, New Mexico, and Texas. It stands on the river Rio Grande, serving as a pass between the United States and Mexico. The Franklin mountains extending from the north divide El Paso into two parts; the West part from where the Mesilla valley begins, and the East part that stretches into the lower valley and Chihuahua Desert.

  • Amigo Airsho:

This is one of the top air shows in the US considered to be a premier event of El Paso. It includes several acts and ground activities along with the air show such as Franklin’s Flying Circus and Jet Powdered School Bus.

  • The Great River Raft Race also known as KLAQ:

It is held every year in June starting from the month’s second Saturday, extending to the last. It is celebrated with family and friends, decorating the rafts, and riding the Rio Grande. 

  • The La Fiesta de las Flores:

This three-day festival held at the Labor Day weekend is one of the historic festivals of Hispania celebrated here in the South-West. It signifies the city’s Hispanic culture, heritage, and customs. It includes live entertainment, senior appreciation dance, a Fiesta Parade and the highlight of the event: crowning of the queen. 

  • Music Under the Stars:

This series of outdoor concerts starts from the beginning of June and lasts till August. It includes varieties of genres such as rock, Tejano, country, classical and others, performed by local and international performers.

El Paso is also known for the 16 recreation centers, 250 parks, 16 golf courses,13 aquatic centers, 10 senior centers, theatres and more than 100 sports fields it has, making it a perfect place for all: youngsters, adults, and teenagers. Franklin mountains and the Franklin Mountains State Park, which is one of the biggest town parks in the US, are a great source of attraction for the tourists. 

From El Paso Museum of Arts and Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Garden to Ysleta Mission, it has several places to feed history cravers as well.

El Paso is considered as the 22nd largest city in the United States in terms of population, while it ranks sixth in the state of Texas with an estimated population of 681,728 as per 2019 records. It covers a total area of 663.7 Km2.

Is El Paso a good place to live in?

It is one of the best places to live in the United States as well as one of the safest. From 1997 to 2014, El Paso has been ranked as one of the top three cities of the United States in terms of security, even receiving the All-America City Award.

Other than being the best in security, it also has an excellent climate, making it a perfect place to enjoy outdoor activities such as golf, hiking, swimming, birding or just relaxing under the sun. It has an average of 302 days of sun every year making it one of the sunniest cities in the US and earning it the title of The Sun City. Being a part of Chihuahua Desert, it experiences transitional cold and hot desert weather that includes mild winters with very little snow and hot and humid summers.

Due to windy and arid climate, from March to early May the city experiences sand and dust storms. These are months of spring, dominated by dry weather conditions. It also receives snowfall during winters, but the average temperature remains around 18 to 19°C throughout the year.

This ideal and eclectic temperature makes the city an awesome place for cultural festivals. As a city between the two countries and three states, it enjoys a wide range of cultures making it an amazing place to live in. 

What are the Best Areas to Live in El Paso?

If you are planning on shifting to El Paso you better consider these places before coming to a decision.

  1. Castner heights:

It has several one family homes and apartments available at very reasonable prices. It also has many amusement parks and attractions like Painted Dunes Golf course and Border Patrol Museum.

  1. Mission hills:

This neighborhood features 20th century houses available for around $200,000. The average rent for apartments and houses here is $1000. Its accessibility to restaurants, shopping malls and parks makes it a nice place to live. 

  1. Mountain view:

Single family houses here range from $135,000 to $175,000. The presence of two lakes and 6 parks is the most beautiful part of this neighborhood. 

  1. Park foothills:

It is a very safe neighborhood. The houses here are sold around $135,00 to $200,000. It also has an easy access to restaurants and malls.  

  1. Red Mulberry:

This area is for those who are searching for a well-off residency. The houses here are sold around $200,000 to $375,000. The cheapest house here will get you three bathrooms, four bedrooms and a garage.  

  1. Via Hermosa:

If you are an eager parent conscious about your child’s education, looking for a perfect residence, Via Hermosa is the ideal place for you. Here you’ll find good schools around and the houses are very cheap ranging from $135,000 to $200,000.
