The Indy star and pop culture icon known as Harrison Ford has excited plenty of wonder in audiences since the 80s, and we’re here to answer a lot of the questions associated with him! We’ll let you know how tall he is, how much he weighs, what his age is, and much more! With all of that to go over, we’d better get started.

How Tall Is Harrison Ford?

Harrison Ford has always been larger than life, from the moment he captured fans’ hearts as the scruffy sci-fi character Han Solo in George Lucas’ Star Wars. However, does that accurately represent his physical height? We think so! After all, Harrison Ford is six feet tall with an extra inch, making him a bit above the average male in the world.

This height has definitely contributed to the iconic “look” of some of his most famous characters. After all, like we mentioned earlier, he managed to be quite a bit taller than his co-star and character’s love interest, Carrie Fisher. This gave Leia, Fischer’s character, an endearing shortness when compared with her on-again, off-again lover, Han Solo.

In fact, fans have pointed out several times that the character of Leia would seem to “strategically” place herself on surfaces that made her a bit taller when arguing with the “scruffy” Han Solo!

Harrison Ford shares his towering height with a few other notable celebrities. For example, other 6’1 stars include Keanu Reeves, Bill Murray, Prince Harry, Gerard Butler, Kevin Costner, Quentin Tarantino, and even John Cena!

How Much Does Harrison Ford Weigh?

Well, we’ve aptly figured out just how Harrison Ford measures up when it comes to floor-to-head, but how much does he weigh? Technically, Harrison Ford weighs somewhere around 81 kilograms, otherwise termed as 179 pounds.

As he’s advanced in age, Harrison Ford does not visit the gym for this fit physique as often as he might have in earlier years. Instead, when asked, Harrison Ford usually eats what he would call a “boring” diet.

Harrison Ford cut out most of the meat in his diet, and dairy altogether. Nowadays, he sticks to vegetables and cleanses protein from fish. He does keep exercise a priority, but limits that to cardio like walking. We could all definitely learn from the great-looking older actor’s example!

How Old Is Harrison Ford?

Speaking of age, let’s go over what year Harrison Ford has reached in his long and lovely career. Harrison Ford is a stunning 81 years of age! Though this may not be surprising to super fans or even those who can calculate when his first film appearance was, it is still an impressive age based on how good he looks and how well we can all agree he carries himself!

Harrison Ford was born in the month of July (specifically on the 13th) in the year 1942. 1942 is also the year that The Blitz bombing of World War II occurred, and Daylight Saving Time was enacted in the U.S.

While these things were taking place, Harrison Ford, and other celebrities like Carole King, Huey P. Newton, Kim Jong-il, and Michael Bloomberg were coming into the world. Harrison Ford was born in Illinois, specifically in the city of Chicago. His mother was a radio actress named Dorothy, and his father was a retired actor who went by Christopher Ford.

Harrison Ford’s first big accomplishment in life was becoming a Life Scout of the Boy Scouts, and he worked as a Scout Camp counselor. This fact was incorporated into the character of Indiana Jones, who is also a Life Scout, by the way!

In 1960, Harrison Ford graduated from the East High School of Maine in Illinois. He spent some time as a radio voice and sportscaster for the school, but wound up attending Wisconsin’s Ripon college as a Sigma Nu fraternity member and philosophy major.

Harrison Ford is a self-proclaimed late-bloomer because he did not take a drama class until the last bit of his senior year, mainly to overcome his own shyness. It was then that he discovered an interest in acting.

Harrison Ford went on to be a Summer Stock performer with the Wisconsin Belfry Players. In 1964 he headed to Los Angeles, hoping to get some jobs as a radio voice performer. While staying in California he was able to earn bit roles for movies by Columbia Pictures.

One of these was “Dead Heat on a Merry Go-Round,” an uncredited role in a 1966 film. Unfortunately, Harrison Ford sort of handicapped his own rise to stardom early on when playing a bellhop on a Jerry Tokofsky film and offending the producer. Apparently, Tokofsky told Harrison Ford he should pretend to deliver groceries like a real movie star such as Tony Curtis; Harrison Ford replied that he thought he should deliver them like an actual bellboy.

His first credited role was in a Glenn Ford movie called “A Time For Killing.”

Eventually Harrison Ford began working for Universal Studios instead of Columbia Pictures, where he was able to play minor roles in their television shows like “Ironside,” “Gunsmoke,” and others.

He also spent some time working as a camera operator, and during a time of disillusionment with Hollywood, Harrison Ford taught himself to be a carpenter for his small family’s sake. It was at this time that a casting director named Fred Roos took a shine to Harrison Ford and got him an audition with none other than George Lucas on a film called “American Graffiti.”

George Lucas absolutely hit it off with Harrison Ford, and much of the rest is history. Harrison Ford was able to star as Han Solo in George Lucas’ next film, “Star Wars,” and the Steven Spielberg film, “Indiana Jones.”

From then on, Han Solo was considered a “leading man,” and throughout his life has solidified himself as an American icon.

In Conclusion

In conclusion, Harrison Ford is 6’1. He is not only above average in terms of height, but above average when it comes to skill. His excellent work ethic has made him not just a leading man, but one of the legendary faces of the art of film, especially in America, all the way through his 81 years of life and work.
