Chandler, Arizona, is a beautiful town that borders the capital city of Phoenix.

History of Chandler

Alexander Chandler, who was the first veterinary surgeon in Arizona, had settled in the town of Mesa in 1891. In less than ten years, he owned almost 20,000 of land and proposed the idea for a townsite called Chandler. The city officially opened in May of 1912.

Where is Chandler Located on the US Map?

In the southwestern United States, in the state of Arizona, sits Chandler. A decent-sized suburb of Phoenix, Chandler is part of Maricopa County.

The north and west of the city are bordered by the town of Tempe, while the north of the city also sits along the town of Mesa. Parts of Phoenix also border it to the west, and to the south is the Gila River Indian Community.

The town of Gilbert sits to the east.

The Census Bureau tells us that the town of Chandler has almost 60.0 square miles, and over 95% of it is land. It is estimated that close to 250,000 people are living in Chandler.

What is the Climate in Chandler?

There is no doubt that Chandler is sweltering in the summer, like much of southern Arizona. The hottest months are from the end of May through the end of September. The average summer temperature is 106 degrees.

However, it is much easier to deal with because of the low humidity as long as you stay hydrated. The cooler seasons are from the end of November to the end of February, with an average of 73 degrees.

The chance of rain varies throughout the year in Chandler. The chance of rain from July to March is between 11 and 22 percent. May and June have less than a 1 percent chance of precipitation.

Even the name sounds amazing, as we immediately think of beautiful villages in Italy. Tuscany offers the upper crust of homes in Chandler. Located the corner of Ray Road and Kyrene Road, the neighborhood boasts large mansions priced on average for 1 million dollars.

The community is cozy, as it’s home to only 950 people! Only the top-notch real estate agents have access to the homes on the market in Tuscany.

Fulton Ranch

The neighborhood of Fulton Ranch has popularity because of the lakes and waterfront property. This is the ideal gated community in Chandler, as there are still homes being built, so it’s perfect for families interested in new construction. Fulton Ranch sits at Arizona Ave and Ocotillo Road.

What is Chandler Known For?

Ultimately, Chandler is known for its relaxing attitude and cultural activities. It is also an excellent place for families.

Kids from the age of 2 will love the Arizona Railway Museum. The museum boasts a vast collection of trains, artifacts, and railway equipment. Fans of Western American and American Indian history would love this museum.

The Chandler Museum has exhibits that give both local and international ranges on the growth of the city. One feature is the McCullough Price House, a 1938 ranch home on the National Register of Historic Places.

Downtown Chandler is really the heart of the city, and it’s walkable space is full of public art, beautiful restaurants, breweries, and boutiques. It’s also home to the largest gift shop in Arizona!

If you enjoy farmer’s markets, Chandler has plenty, and if it’s shopping you like, the Chandler Fashion Center is top-notch. It also has a movie theater, splash pad, and a variety of dining. The Phoenix Premium Outlets on the west side of Chandler have outlets that offer up to 65% off well-known fashion brands.

Chandler also has over 60 parks, so there is plenty of space for picnics, walking, and playtime with the kids. Veterans Oasis Parks has 113 acres of wetlands, with a lake and walking trail. It is an ideal place for horseback riding and bird watching.

And if it is the food you are looking for, besides the plethora of yummy places to eat, Chandler is also home to the AAA Five Diamond restaurant in Arizona. The Kai at Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass has meals with the most indigenous ingredients that are sure to test your taste buds.

As someone who has lived in the Phoenix area for years, I can say for sure that Chandler is a wonderful place to visit and to live. It’s low crime, affordable, and a true fit for those with families.
