Seeing a star on-screen doesn’t give you an accurate perception of them. Between makeup, hair, prosthetics, filters and camera angles, an actor can be made to look any way the filmmakers choose.

Even height can be manipulated. We often think of big stars, especially action movie stars, as larger than life. When you see them in a photo next to other actors or are lucky enough to come face to face with them, you might be surprised that they are average stature.

This is often the case with Jeremy Renner. Because he keeps fans guessing about the next unique character he will play, it’s hard to tell exactly how tall he is.

Onscreen, Renner has played characters with big personalities and talents. Therefore, it can be hard to estimate his real height when you take away the lights, cameras and special effects.

Jeremy Renner is 5’9”, which is the exact average of American men.

He has played a wide variety of characters, both comical and complex (and many that are somewhere in between). Renner is a renowned actor famous for embodying any role, so it’s easy to see why fans are sometimes surprised by his physical characteristics. He adapts to any role he takes on!

Renner’s height compared to the other Avengers

While Renner isn’t the tallest of his most famous co-stars, he’s far from the shortest, falling somewhere in the middle of his Avengers team. Below is a rundown of some of the main Marvel characters’ heights.

  • Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Paul Bettany as Vision – 6’3”
  • Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark – 6’1”
  • Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson and Paul Rudd as Scott Lang – 5’10”
  • Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner – 5’9” (or 8’2” as the Hulk)
  • Don Cheadle as Rhodey – 5’8”
  • Tom Holland as Peter Parker – 5’7”
  • Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff  – 5’6”
  • Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff – 5’5”

With the movies being heavy action and shot from a multitude of angles, not to mention the CGI used on several different characters, it’s impossible to tell who’s taller than whom. As far as we know, no special measures were taken to make Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye look taller for the movies.

How old is Jeremy Renner?

Renner was born January 7, 1971, making him 52 in 2023. He is the oldest of 6 children, becoming a big brother for the last time when he was 40.

Fans will agree that Renner has looked younger than he actually is for years. Most attribute that to his diet, exercise, and supplement routine. To play Clint Barton (Hawkeye) in the Marvel franchise, Renner needed to get his physique in prime condition. At 40 years old, this was no small feat, but he accomplished it through determination and hard work.

Renner’s age compared to his most famous characters

Renner’s first movie was National Lampoon’s Senior Trip in 1995. He was a 24-year-old high school student, which is pretty common in Hollywood.

He was in several other movies, but his breakout role was The Hurt Locker in 2008. Renner, who was 38 at the time, played an Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer in the U.S. Army. Judging by his rebel attitude in the movie, the age of his ex-wife, and the fact that he has a young son at home, we can assume that his character, Will James, is 10 or more years younger than Renner was while playing him.

Jeremy Renner is best known for playing Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Barton is about 41 when MCU fans first meet him in Thor, compared to Renner himself, who was 40 when he first appeared on screen as Hawkeye.

How much does Jeremy Renner weigh?

Renner maintains a weight of about 180, depending on whether or not he is training for a specific role. This is just over the recommended weight for a man of his height, but that “ideal” doesn’t take into account extra muscle Renner has put on for various roles.

When he was getting ready to film for Thor in 2011, he stuck to calisthenics and weight lifting to build muscle, always scheduling a fun activity one day a week for endurance.

And as you can see from movies like Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and The Bourne Legacy (in addition to his ongoing role as a Marvel Avenger, Renner has been able to maintain his
